Business card 2.0

Labels: , , | 0 reacties»

Web 2.0 allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue. Every Wednesday I will write a blog post about Web 2.0 related to a specific topic. This week it will be Web 2.0 and business cards: Has social media killed the traditional business card?

Online networking and social media are 'hot'. I think you all know about the traditional paper business cards and may be you have the business card of people some you met. Those traditional business cards mention your name, function, contact information and company you are working for. But with the coming of social media, there are so many other ways to reach you or to see what the company is up to.

So that is why Bram Groenen, invented the Social Card. This card is social, because this card is linked to a personal webaddress which you get when you order your social card. This address is mentioned on your social card and when you surf to this webaddress, all your online profiles are mentioned together with your name and pitch. In this way it is very easy to connect your offline contacts with your online contacts.

Social cards are business cards 2.0, because they involve the social media aspect. I do not think social media killed the traditional business card, but the social cards are the second childhood of the traditional business cards. In other words, the business card has grown up!

Sorry for the fact these videos are in Dutch, but I wanted to give all the credits to the company!

Until next time,
Eline Jansen, Mediaholic
