Every Monday I will write a personal blog post about me and social media. This week I will tell you more about a course I am following: User Interface Design. In groups we have to design an interface with the goal to make lives of people (in our case the lives of students) a little bit easier. Curious about what we are doing? Continue reading!

If you are a student, you might know about the phenomenon Blackboard (and you might probably have an outspoken opinion about it). If you are no student but just a visitor of my blog (which I really appreciate!) I will explain Blackboard: Blackboard is a electronic learning environment which makes it possible to check your schedule, handing in homework, check your grades etc.

Blackboard is not known as the most efficient program to work with. It is very cumbrous and it looks like information is everywhere: it should be a program which is nice to work with and it could be when there were some guidelines especially for teacher were to put what kind of information. To give you an idea about the failures of Blackboard, we tested some users of Blackboard and we made a video about it.

So, back to the subject. We decided to improve Blackboard but not the website Blackboard, but we are going to design an app inspired by Blackboard. We are now in the designing phase of the project and the main tasks we are focussing on are: clear overview of classes, homework and deadlines, an option to see your to-do-list and implementing other activities in your daily schedule like dates with your friends. In other words, in our app you will have everything in one!

Are there things you would like to see in an app inspired by Blackboard? Please let me know!

Until next time,
Eline Jansen, Mediaholic
